Noise, noise
There are days I would dearly like to put a decibel meter on my desk and do a quick re-enactment of the bit in Apollo 13 where the ground crew is trying to figure out how to power up the command module:
"If this sound meter rises above 100 decibels, your argument's no good. If it spikes, that's sayonara; I won't be listening to what you say..."
