State of the irregular, New Year's 2010
Well, this Christmas vacation could have gone better. Then again, last year's was rather worse - even being down with the flu and spiking a fever is better than doing conscript duty and getting both Christmas Eve and Christmas night barracks watch.
Christmas itself was nice - I didn't start to have problems until the day after, when the errands I needed to run got me caught out in a cold rainstorm - which is probably what laid me open to the flu. But the fever's peaked and largely passed, I think, in time for me to travel back to Athens, even though it laid waste to much of my plans for my brief time Stateside.
Time with family: nice.
And, all in all, this year was much better than last. If it had a theme, I suppose one could say it was "stabilizing". Settling into the job, working year-round for the first time since I got out of law school (not counting the short Easter break, summer vacation, and Christmas break), and moving into an actual place of my own ... I've got a much more stable foundation to build on this coming year and for years to come.
Just got to live life carefully, in some regards. But that's often the case.
