Here's how it is.
Moloch 2.0 is still cranky; wondering if I'm not asking too much of the power supply. Sooner or later I'm gonna have to do something about it. Pulling the second hard disk seems to have stabilized things. May get an enclosure for it, use it as an external drive. Need - need - to have backup capabilities.
Work is going along OK. Still dredging through files, looking for non-disclosure agreements to get to company's legal counsel, and finding evidence of just how many tech outfits dashed against the rocks in the past few years. Kinda depressing.
Woke up this morning with the throat feeling raw and abused; two multis, two C-tabs, juice, and it seems to have cleared. Meant to grab a Taylor-ham-egg-cheese bagel on the way in, but spent too long looking for my stylus pen, and barely got in the office on time.
Still, feeling somewhat awake even without caffeine; managed about six hours of sleep. Maybe a good sign.
Looking at my desk, coming to a bit of a conclusion: I think I may be addicted to technology, perhaps. Remember the sax player from "The Simpsons" who was addicted to Faberge eggs? On the desk, I have almost-ultralight laptop, high-powered PDA, and miniature flip-phone. Back at home there's another cell phone, one that is only useful if I cross the Atlantic. Which I do enough that a European phone is a sensible thing to have, but I could have gone cheap and gotten a brick off eBay. Instead? I got one of those spring-slide Nokias. You remember the phones they used in "The Matrix?" Kinda like that, only a little smaller, easier to carry. They never made them for the American market; not sure why. Aside from the cool factor - it just makes sense to have something protecting the keypad on a phone. You know how many demo units I used to see at cell phone stores that had missing keys? A lot...
Enough rambling, I suppose. Time to get back to work. Will probably walk to lunch today - hot dog place is that close. Not sure who all reads this journal, but does the name "Johnny and Hanges" ring any bells with anyone?
Ah well.
Close entry.
