The back pay I was owed from the spring finally showed up in my bank account. My financial status has accordingly changed from "I need to watch every ~~penny~~ euro" to "I ought to be careful with money, but at least I've got a nice fluffy safety cushion now".

Plus, it's in euros, not greenbacks, and at the moment? Not such a bad thing.
