Late to the party, but a thought on the concept of squick

Squick, to me, is not merely a sexual concept, but more generally, anything which generates a mental picture that makes my stomach churn. So if I say explicit slash or something like that in fanfic gives me a squicky feeling, it's merely personal.

It doesn't mean I consider it wrong (although in many cases it involves character assassination to a level that I would consider wrong.)

My point is, there are other things that give me that same feeling. The concept of invasive eye surgery for one. It gives me squicky feelings, despite the fact that I know that it's not immoral, there's not even anything sexual about it. It's just ... squick.

And it demonstrates the importance of not generalizing, I suppose.

Your mileage may vary.
