A proposed fanfic challenge.

One of my regrets is that I was born too late to remember the day that men first walked on the moon. I did the best I could, though; the first fanfic I ever published was about two people's memories of that fateful day.

I proposed a challenge, but never got a response - this was in the days before I knew of the existence of LiveJournal.

So ... how about this?

Any fandom. A story involving the Apollo program, one of its momentous events - be it the fatal fire of Apollo 1 ... the Christmas orbit of the moon by Apollo 8 ... the giant leap for mankind that was Apollo 11 ... or the nail-biting tension of Apollo 13.

Maybe something as simple as a drabble concerning what someone was doing that day. Or maybe something more complicated.

Apollo doesn't have to be in the core of the story, but it should figure somewhere.

Oh, and, um ... how do I put this delicately ... can it be done without slashiness?

Much obliged.

And as an existence proof, I submit for consideration: Moonwalk. (BtVS, season 5, post-Forever, no warnings.)

When to begin, when to close? On a whim, I'd say the challenge might as well open on April 11 and end on April 17, the launch and return dates of Apollo 13, but April 11 is a long way off. Still ... how about April 17 as the close?

Any fandom is game.

Just a thought.

Close entry.
